About the Event
Are you fascinated with the ever-changing sky and tempted to capture its beauty in watercolor? A key building block for any landscape painting, skies are the perfect subject to practice basic watercolor techniques and build your confidence in this medium.
In this workshop, we will learn and practice 3 types of washes to create a simple but effective backdrop, then add & remove elements to the washes to create sky-predominant landscapes. At the end of the workshop you will have at least one small but complete landscape painting.
This workshop is appropriate for beginners to watercolor, with all materials provided. Participants may choose to bring some sky reference photos and their own watercolors and preferred paper if desired.
Maya Bao, originally from China, is a watercolor artist and professional translator now based in Cold Spring, NY. When she is not working at Supplies for Creative Living, she paints watercolor both in studio and en plain-air and creates watercolor tutorial videos on Youtube.
