Outside IN - A Creativity Camp for Ages 8-12
Time & Location
About the Event
Outside IN is back!
Join us for a 3 week session this summer, geared to your favorite 8-12 year olds. Outside IN will provide guidance for kids to practice nature observation, art-making and reading, while leaving plenty of time for summer daydreaming. Each week we'll keep a nature journal and tie what is happening in the natural world to literature and poetry, the art of sensory observation, and creative play with various artistic media.
Campers will choose one or more works of fiction from a reading list put together in collaboration with Split Rock Books that embraces this ethos of creative exploration.
Session Duration: July 6th through July 27th (3 weeks total)
Outside IN will meet twice a week to share and explore as a community. Meetings will be held in the morning, either in-person or online, depending on the weather. In-person meetings will be held outdoors, within the Village of Cold Spring.
Schedule and meeting locations TBD.
Cost: $180 for each participant
Younger siblings (Ages 5-8) are welcome to join Outside IN, but may need some parental or sibling assistance.
We know this last year been especially rough for everyone. Creativity Camp sessions are available at reduced cost to accommodate any financial twists and turns that have come your way. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Grace Lo is a landscape architect, former yoga instructor and artist living and working in the Hudson Valley. As the owner of Supplies for Creative Living, she is fascinated by the intersection of creativity and intuition, and helping others find their own inner artist. She loves unearthing ah-ha moments, whether in the landscape, in the human body or on a piece of paper.
Lara Shihab-Eldin is an architectural designer focused on sustainable materials. She loved learning more about early childhood education, literacy and play while working on the design and construction of a children’s library space inspired by the history, landscape, and industry of the Hudson River. Lara has volunteered to encourage environmental stewardship and outdoor education in her community. She loves teaching and learning with artists, outdoor educators, and children, and bringing interdisciplinary design thinking to seasonal, nature-inspired art. Lara's work and photos can be found at Lara Eldin Design.
Masha Schmidt is a Hudson Valley based acupuncturist, herbalist, and yoga teacher. She has been teaching aromatherapy, acupressure, seasonal practices, nature based spirituality, and yoga for the past 13 years. Masha was born right near the Black Sea, grew up by the Atlantic Ocean, and has lived near the Hudson River ever since. She believes in the restorative power of water; and also mermaids.
