About the event
INSIDE Out is back!
This year, both of our camps are diving into the world of wild and local plants. Geared to our favorite young teens, each week of INSIDE Out will explore a different facet of the plants all around us in the Hudson Valley. We'll learn to tune with all our senses to discover what our local plant community has to teach us about ourselves through art and observation. What are the messages that plants have for us, based on how they act, smell, feel or look? What can we create with our hands from the plants around us?
We'll explore green spaces in our immediate area and share what we've discovered, drawn and observed as a group twice a week. INSIDE Out provides the framework and tools for self-directed exploration during the session and beyond, while leaving plenty of time for summer daydreaming and travels.
Campers can choose works of fiction from a reading list put together in collaboration with Split Rock Books that embraces this ethos of interior exploration.
Session Duration: July 6th through July 22th (3 weeks total), Tuesdays and Thursdays - 10:30AM to 12PM
- Week One: Observation / Drawing
- Week Two: Offering / Weaving
- Week Three: Exchange
INSIDE Out will meet twice a week to share and explore as a community. Meetings will be held in-person, weather permitting, within the Village of Cold Spring.
Cost: $180 for each participant
**** Sign up for our camps by June 15th to receive a complimentary sketchbook + pencil plus 10% off our camp reading list from Split Rock Books. ****

As the owner of Supplies for Creative Living, she is fascinated by the intersection of creativity and intuition, and helping others find their own inner artist. Lara Shihab-Eldin is an architectural designer focused on sustainable materials. She loved learning more about early childhood education, literacy and play while working on the design and construction of a children’s library space inspired by the history, landscape, and industry of the Hudson River. Lara has volunteered to encourage environmental stewardship and outdoor education in her community. She loves teaching and learning with artists, outdoor educators, and children, and bringing interdisciplinary design thinking to seasonal, nature-inspired art. Lara's work and photos can be found at Lara Eldin Design.
