About the event

Join us for our second round of this after-school series, where we pluck creatures of all shapes, colors and persuasions out of our dreams and imaginations, and coax them into form.

This year, our kid collaborators will be asked to flex their world building and character building muscles, this time to create a dream world and the creatures that live in them.  This 8-session series will dabble in  bookbinding, collage-making, sewing, storytelling and embroidery.

Participants will collect ideas, fabrics, and clues for their dream creatures inside and outside the workshop room, culminating in the creation of their own, very personal dream creature community.

September 21st through November 9th (8 sessions)

Wednesdays 3:30 to 5PM

$160 / participant

All materials are provided.

Gail Cunningham O’Donnell is a natural dyer, weaver, quilter and novice knitter. Originally from Philadelphia, she got her degree in Fibers and Book Arts at Oregon College of Art & Craft in Portland, Oregon. She spent a number of years working as a cut paper artist and showed in galleries both locally and internationally, but in recent years she has returned to her roots in fibers. When she isn’t working at Supplies for Creative Living, she is working on her line of naturally dyed wool yarn, which can be found locally at The Endless Skein.

Violeta Edwards Salas is a sophomore at Haldane High School. At school she is involved in the Model U.N., Student Council, the Varsity Tennis team, Drama Costume Department, and the JV Basketball team. She also volunteers in the library as part of the TAB club. You can read some of her articles in the Highland Current newspaper as part of their student journalist program. In her free time she embroiders, paints, watercolors, sketches, sews and more.

Grace Lo is the owner of Supplies for Creative Living, an artist, a landscape architect and lover of all creatures.  She thinks that making things by hand is magic, and loves tending a shop and work space that shares that love.  When she's not wrangling people and things at the shop, she likes to hang out in the woods, at the edge of the sea or in her hammock.
