About the event
This workshop is for children ages 3-8 (Children 5 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver).
We are inspired by two poems this month, Windsong by Judith Nichols and Space Poem by James Carter from the book Sing a Song of Seasons (Preston-Gannon & Waters) and also by the book A Seed is Sleepy (Aston & Long), both available at Split Rock Books. We will observe the beautiful shapes & textures of seed pods that become visible in the early winter landscape, as much of nature goes to sleep. We will use seed pods, seed pod drawings, and clay-pods to make hanging ‘dream-pods’, that can stir our imagination and help us drift into sweet-dreams!
Each month features a seasonal theme that ties what is happening in the natural world to children’s stories, poems, the art of observation and inquiry outside, and creative play. We’ll use seasonal materials found in nature, tie-in to a children’s book (in partnership with Split Rock Books!) to make a project that can continue to inspire you and your child throughout the season.
