Heading our way?

Our shop is located in the charming village of Cold Spring - easily accessible by the Metro North train about an hour north of New York City.

We've been told that our shop is:

We’re ready! ☀️ Wander your way through these (slightly) sunnier days into our community studio where we have a few new ways for all of us gather around and create. (And dang, we all need a little breather these days, don’t we?)

Come sit, sketch, paint, doodle around the table with what are sure to be some really lovely humans. Bring something to drink, bring your own stuff, borrow some of ours. We love you too 😘

Monday Reset and After School Makers are EVERY week during shop hours with no pre-registration needed. BIPOC Open Studio is usually the last Monday of the month, Still Life Sunday is usually the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month with pre-registration required. Reintroduction to Watercolors is once a month in select dates.

2025, but make it snake-y. 🐍

Celebrating the start of the Lunar New Year with some quiet, perfectly imperfect making in collaboration with some small hands. This new year's zodiac animal is the quiet strategist, sinkjng deep and moving through new and unlikely spaces with ease and intuition. The snake knows the power and inevitability of transformation, of shedding old skin, of adapting to changing conditions.

We, like probably many of you, are evaluating our direction on this particular platform and where to go from here. We don’t have the answers yet, but trust that the right move will reveal itself in good time. For now we rest, we move, we sit, we make.

May this new year bring new answers 🧧

Mark your calendars and dig into your art stash! We are hosting our first Art (Supply) Swap the weekend of January 18 & 19.

If you have some like new or gently used but neglected art supplies hanging out in the dark corners and drawers of your home, a pile of barely started sketchbooks, duplicate sets of art materials given by well intentioned friends, or impulse art purchases that you regret but they feel too nice to throw away or give to someone who won't appreciate them, here's your chance to dust them off, send them a new art-appreciating home and pick up a few new goodies to freshen up your winter art practice.

Drop off your art swap items at our shop during shop hours and get priority entry to the art swap on Saturday 1/18 from 11-12PM and a coupon for 15% off anything in our shop through the end of March.

Any remaining supplies will be donated at the end of the swap, art supplies can also be dropped off during the weekend of the swap. Please only drop off art supplies in a condition that you would also be very happy to receive (no craft bits/fabric/yarn please!). Art books are welcome.

Don't forget! Our winter hours are Thursday to Monday 11 to 5PM. We are closed Tuesdays and Wednesday through April.

Breathing in the salt air, eyes and ears on the endless horizon, hands to the feet of glowing trees and feet in the sand as we slip into 2025.

THANK YOU for a wonderful 2024 - we loved seeing your smiling faces in the shop, the ah-ha / so-glad-we’re-here-together moments in and around our workshop table and being a part of our little Main Street in this beautiful corner of the world.

We wish you quiet moments of inspiration, joy in small things and brave moments of making in 2025. Onwards!

“I wish I was creative.”

We hear this one a lot at the shop. Creativity flows in all directions, from the way we set our tables and spaces, to all realms of making but most importantly, we think creativity is a way to live in and love a troubled world just a little more deeply.

Our shop is filled to the brim with color, supplies and ideas for how to take those first creative steps, including our Drawing Starter Kit. Wrapped and ready for giving, this kit includes a non-intimidating assortment of drawing pencils, a sketchbook and our very own How to Draw booklet filled with tips and tricks for beginners and lapsed artists.

Come by our shop every day before Christmas Eve to round out (or start off 😬) your holiday gifting.
